It's sure realistic when all of a sudden the characters in the comic book you're reading act as if they realize they're characters in a comic book you're reading, isn't it? Or isn't it?

The time period was the crest of the wave for small-press operators, like me and the publishers I'd worked with. If you were producing good quality work in some "specialty"/fetish comic genre (Giantess, Muscle-Girl, Bondage, etc), you could get $10 for an 8-12 page digest-size (8.5x5.5") comic, via mail-order sales. The internet killed the market, because it was all showing up there for free.
For producers like Blaine and "Messy Fun Video", they'd just caught the wave, and rode it to new heights. The internet was as big a boon to them as it was a boondoggle to us.
Anyway, I remember I did a little 6-8 page comic, just to demonstrate to Rob that I could cover all the Wet-and-Messy angles in my comic, like he did in his videos; turned out to not be necessary. He went for it, forwarded me the $ to print the books (he didn't want to bother with that end), and offered to a 50/50 split(!). I definitely agreed, and sent him either 100 or 150 copies, I can't recall. Which he sold- for $40/copy.
